If you are buying cheap hatch, I wont really give a damn about the car or the colors. but if you are buying an executive saloon for yourself, then I think you better make the decision or you will live to regret it after 6 months.

I would rather be a MCP in choosing my own car because you are the one that drive it and you pay for it. Unless if your wife is the bread winner and she drives you to work lah..

I doubt there is any compromise here. He likes GS300, she likes Bimmer, and the end he got GS300 and not anything in between.

Have you ever wonder why he (the man) is the one posting this thread and checking which car is better? Because buying car is a man's decision.

Well, like I said, everyone's entitled to his/her own opinion. Nothing we can do to change that, so just let him be... Will definitely let you know whether the Lexus proves to be a wise choice but I'll only be getting the car end of this month. Will keep you posted.

Thanks! Did you manage to test drive the 523? what is it like? I have been very stubborn in not wanting to change my E39. My pervious experience with the previous GS300 was soso, it was fast and quick but a bit soft and the gated shift on the earlier model which I had really annoyed me. But it was good over long hauls.

Halo, if you are not gay, please stop pretending that you are MR SNAG lah. If you are really such a gentlemen, I think the first thing you should do will be get 2 cars instead of one. The reason why you want to spend all your transport budget on the GS300 is basically to statify your manhood and ego. No? I am sure you could easily get 2 honda civics for the price 1 GS300. you women doesnt like to have her own wheels?

Althought seaplane says that he is sharing the car, I am confident to say that 90% of the time he will be driving it, he will be cleaning it, he will send the car for servicing, he will pump the gas, he will send the car for detailing. Why? because women are not interested in this sort of things.

The reason why seaplane spent all his transport budget on one car? Who can say, its between him and his wife, maybe the both wanted a nice car. What is wrong with that? You may spend and get 2 civics, but you also have double of everything else... you go figure, everyone knows how expensive it is to run cars in singapore.

Hi Breyton,

Well, the Beemer is a sportier drive, more agile but I find it to be kinda stiff. Maybe it's just me. I prefer plush ride. Smile The 523i also feels kinda under-powered compared to the GS300. Perhaps a 525i would be a better choice.

Sad to say the new GS300 is still having a gated shift, which you don't really like... The Lexus cabin is well designed. Buttons to the air-con and sound system are within reach while your hand/arm is still on the arm-rest. Cabin is quiet and sound system is top-notch. 14 speakers all-in-all. Makes you feel like you're in a concert hall... No kidding...

I think once a Beemer fan, always a Beemer fan. Maybe a test drive will change your mind.

Seems like you have a habit of antagonizing people. First of all, we're not blowing all of our transport budget in the new car. We're actually buying below our means. It doesn't make any sense to me in buying 2 cars unless you have a big family. There're other more important things to spend your money on. First on the list should be property. How to house a good car when you don't even have a good house?

Satisfy my manhood? Egoistic? As I mentioned before, if I wanted attention, I would have gotten a SLK or an Audi TT... Think we're on the opposite side of a bandwidth. Totally can't communicate and I seriously think that you're the only one at your end (here).

I owned the previous GS300. Like I said not too bad. But my problem is that my better half really likes bms, not that I mind. Hehehe. I am a bimmer fan myself. Though when they came out with this bangle design, i was really upset and came very close to buying an audi. Mr. Green
